Love travel? Love people? Let’s talk.
House of Travel is New Zealand’s most awarded travel group. We have been recognised as the Best Place to Work in the Large Category for two consecutive years, ranked the #1 brand for customer experience in Kantar’s Customer Leadership Index (2024), and named the winner of the Canstar Blue Most Satisfied Customers Travel Agent Award 2025.
At House of Travel Johnsonville, you’ll help customers turn “we’d love to go” into a trip they’re genuinely excited about. You’ll listen to what matters to them, share your knowledge and take care of the details, whether they’re planning a family getaway, a cruise or the trip they’ve been saving for.
It’s a role for someone who enjoys both sides of travel: the conversations and relationships, and the research and organisation that make a holiday come together.
What you’ll do
You’ll be there for your customers from the first conversation through to the finer details of their trip. Some days that means sharing ideas and putting together an itinerary; others it means following up a booking, sorting out a change or making sure the numbers balance.
Get to know your customers and recommend travel that suits their needs, interests and budget
Research and book flights, accommodation, cruises, tours and other travel arrangements
Build lasting relationships through great service and regular follow-up
Manage the details behind each booking, including customer payments, supplier payments and reconciliations
Stay across changes to travel products, destinations and requirements so you can give customers informed advice
What’s on offer?
A role where you can share your passion for travel every day
Training and support from your team and the wider House of Travel network
Industry travel benefits and opportunities to grow your destination knowledge
Access to Connect@HOT wellbeing resources
An annual company conference where we recognise achievements and celebrate together
About you
You’ll have at least two years’ experience as a Travel Consultant and enjoy helping customers plan travel that’s right for them. You’ll also bring:
Firsthand travel experience and a genuine curiosity about the world
A knack for connecting with people and understanding what they need
Confidence in making recommendations and working towards sales goals
Strong organisation and attention to detail
The drive to keep learning as destinations, products and travel requirements change
Knowledge of Amadeus would be an advantage.
If you can picture yourself helping customers plan trips they’ll be talking about for years, we’d love to hear from you.
