We're recruiting an experienced Engineering Manager for a 12-18 month fixed term to lead three software engineering teams delivering complex products and applications for an established Australian technology organisation. This is an opportunity for a collaborative engineering leader who enjoys developing people, improving delivery performance and working across a complex technology environment where priorities, dependencies and requirements continue to evolve.

What you'll be doing

You'll provide leadership across 3 software engineering teams, ensuring they have the direction, support and collaboration needed to deliver high-quality software products.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading, coaching and developing Engineering Leads, building capability, accountability and strong team performance.
Working with product and engineering stakeholders to translate roadmap priorities into achievable delivery outcomes.
Improving engineering delivery, predictability and visibility across multiple teams.
Identifying and addressing technical debt, systemic issues and delivery constraints.
Collaborating with architecture, security, operations and release teams to resolve dependencies and improve outcomes.
Driving consistent engineering standards, quality practices and continuous improvement.
Helping teams navigate complexity, ambiguity and changing priorities while maintaining delivery momentum.

About you

You'll be an experienced Engineering Manager or Software Development Manager with a strong background in software engineering and proven experience leading teams in complex delivery environments.

Ideally, you'll bring:

Proven experience managing multiple software engineering teams, including coaching, performance management and developing Engineering Leads.
Experience delivering complex SaaS products, enterprise applications or large-scale software initiatives.
A strong background in backend or full-stack software development, ideally with experience in C#/.NET environments.
Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, cloud-native applications and modern engineering practices.
Experience working in Agile, DevOps or similarly collaborative software delivery environments.
The ability to identify systemic issues, improve engineering processes and drive consistent delivery outcomes.
Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working across multiple technical and business functions.
The ability to operate effectively through ambiguity, changing priorities and organisational complexity.
