The Donaldson Residential Trust provides a high quality home environment for adults with an intellectual disability in a comfortable residential setting. We have 5 houses in the Northwest area of Christchurch. We are looking for an enthusiastic carer to join our team.

We have a permanent, full time position available requiring shift work, including weekends and paid sleepovers. You would be part of the Team whose roster covers 5 houses. This means you are not based in one house, so you would have a wide variety of work.
The position involves a wide range of duties including personal cares, household duties, documentation, lifestyle activities.
Skills & Experience required - Nga pukenga, nga tohu ou
The essential requirements are:
• Comfortable completing personal cares with our Residents
• Have empathy toward those with disabilities
• Be flexible in work habits
• Work well as part of a team
• A full, clean drivers license is essential
• Basic computer skills for notes and reporting
We have a preference for applicants with experience in community support work.
Job Description
The primary function and responsibility of the Residential Support employee is to support, educate, assist and encourage individuals with an intellectual disability in their daily living situation.
Meeting Residents day to day health and needs
Providing personal cares
Assist / preparation of meals, clean-up, washing, ironing, general household cleaning and maintaining a standard of hygiene and appearance, acceptable to Health and Safety regulations and Trust standards.
Maintaining a safe environment
Helping Residents plan and achieve their goals
Assist, assess and monitor individual's personal programmes, treatments, eating plans, exercises programmes etc as prescribed / directed by specialist/ Management/ medical personal.
Reading, writing of daily Resident notes
Maintaining responsibility and documentation of dispensation of medication.
Transportation of Residents in a safe and legal manner.
Responsible for household shopping as rostered.
To communicate in a professional manner with respect and dignity at all times.
