Thinking about a change of pace, a new challenge or a move to Nelson Tasman?

This could be the opportunity that brings the two together.

APS is looking for an experienced Recruitment Team Leader to lead our Nelson branch, grow our presence across the Nelson Tasman region and help shape the next stage of the business.

For someone currently working in Christchurch, this is an opportunity to step into a leadership role where you can have real influence, take ownership of a local market and build something you’re proud of.

You’ll have autonomy locally, backed by nearly 40 years of recruitment experience, established systems and a nationwide APS network.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role combining people leadership, recruitment, business development and commercial growth.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading and developing the Nelson team

  • Growing APS across the Nelson Tasman market

  • Building relationships with existing and prospective clients

  • Identifying and converting new business opportunities

  • Driving branch performance against agreed commercial targets

  • Coaching and motivating your team

  • Staying close to clients, candidates and the local market

  • Helping shape the future direction and growth of the branch

This isn’t a role where you simply maintain what already exists.

We’re looking for someone who wants to lead from the front, create opportunities and grow the business.

Who We’re Looking For

Ideally, you’ll have agency recruitment experience and understand what it takes to build a successful desk, team or branch.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong agency recruitment experience

  • Business development and commercial capability

  • Leadership or people management experience

  • Confidence developing new client relationships

  • The ability to coach, motivate and support a team

  • A proactive, results-focused approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys being part of the action.

You’ll be comfortable opening doors, meeting clients, solving recruitment challenges and helping your team succeed.

Why Make the Move?

Sometimes the right career move is about more than another job title.

If you’ve been considering a move away from Christchurch, or you’re looking for an opportunity where you can have more influence over the business you’re helping to build, this role offers both.

You’ll have the chance to establish yourself in the Nelson Tasman market, lead a local team and play a meaningful role in growing APS across the region.

Why APS?

Good recruitment leaders have options, so the opportunity needs to stack up.

You’ll receive:

  • Competitive salary plus performance bonus

  • Genuine autonomy to influence branch growth

  • 4% employer KiwiSaver contribution

  • Southern Cross medical insurance after six months

  • Birthday leave

  • Ongoing training and professional development

  • Employee recognition and annual awards

  • High-performance incentives

  • Support from an experienced wider APS team

  • The backing of an established nationwide recruitment business

APS has been connecting great people with great businesses for nearly 40 years, with eight locations across New Zealand.

We’ve also been recognised as an RCSA finalist for five consecutive years, winning in each of the past two years.

Could Nelson Tasman Be Your Next Move?

You might already be doing well in Christchurch.

You might not even be actively looking.

But if you’ve been thinking about a change of location, a bigger leadership opportunity or the chance to build something with genuine ownership, it could be worth a conversation.

You don’t need to have made the decision to move.
