Pressure Vessel Design Engineer – Mechanical Engineering
Ripley, Derbyshire
ASME VIII | EN 13445 | PV Elite | Pressure Equipment Design
Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in pressure vessel calculations, international design codes and fabricated pressure equipment?
An established engineering organisation is expanding its specialist mechanical engineering team to support complex pressure vessel and shell-and-tube heat exchanger projects.

The role
You'll take responsibility for the mechanical design and validation of pressure equipment, including:

  • Code-based calculations covering shells, heads, flanges, nozzles and reinforcement.
  • Assessments of lifting, supports, transport, wind and seismic loads.
  • Mechanical design of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, including tubesheets and channels.
  • Using PV Elite, COMPRESS, AutoPIPE Vessel, Finglow or similar calculation software.
  • Preparing design reports, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Supporting PED, UKCA and ASME certification requirements.
  • Working with CAD and fabrication teams to develop practical manufacturing solutions.

What you'll need

  • Experience designing pressure vessels to at least one recognised code: ASME VIII, EN 13445, PD 5500 or AD 2000.
  • You'll also need experience using pressure vessel design software, an ability to verify results through engineering calculations and an understanding of materials, welding and pressure equipment regulations.
  • Experience with TEMA heat exchangers, FEA, nozzle load assessments or third-party inspection bodies would be beneficial.
