Quality Bakers Dunedin, part of Goodman Fielder, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join its engineering team supporting the production of some of New Zealand's best-known bakery brands.
This is a hands-on role working across a busy manufacturing facility producing bread, pikelets, muffins and other bakery products enjoyed in homes throughout New Zealand.
Working alongside a small and highly capable engineering team, you'll play a key role in keeping plant and equipment operating safely and efficiently while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for:
- Reactive and breakdown maintenance across manufacturing equipment
- Preventative maintenance and planned shutdown work
- Fault finding and troubleshooting mechanical equipment
- Using CMMS systems to record maintenance activities
- Supporting production teams to minimise downtime
- Contributing to health, safety and continuous improvement initiatives
- Working closely with the Engineering Manager and wider site team
What We're Looking For
- NZ Level 4 Engineering Trade Qualification (essential)
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter within a manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving ability
- Experience working with production machinery and plant equipment
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively under pressure
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with production teams
- FMCG or food manufacturing experience highly desirable but not essential
