4-10 hour shifts, which can be Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday through Saturday.
Job Description
The Medical Laboratory Technician - Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for specimen processing, testing, and reporting test results while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies. The laboratory provides a wide range of services including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy, and offers 24-hour coverage with a focus on quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Process specimens in accordance with established protocols.
- Conduct laboratory tests and accurately report results.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and laboratory policies.
- Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to facilitate quality patient care.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and participate in continuing education.
Required Experience
- Medical Laboratory Technician: Minimum of six (6) months of clinical laboratory experience across core areas including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood bank.
- Medical Laboratory Scientist: Minimum of one (1) year of clinical laboratory experience, including rotations in blood bank, microbiology, chemistry, and hematology.
Certifications/Licensure
- Medical Laboratory Technician Certification required within 18 months of hire.
- Acceptable certifications include Medical Laboratory Technician from AMT or ASCP.
- Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification required within 18 months of hire.
- Acceptable certifications include Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist or Specialist from AMT or ASCP.
