About the role

This is a production administration role with hands-on capability. Most of your week is spent keeping the production side of the winery organised: planning runs with our winemaker, managing stock and ordering, keeping production and dispatch records accurate, and being the main point of contact for our contract bottling clients and suppliers. When a run is on, you'll also set up the bottling line, supervise the line team, carry out quality checks and step in on the line or troubleshoot a fault when it's needed. It suits someone who is organised and detail-focused at a desk, and practical and calm on the production floor.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the winemaker to plan bottling runs and production schedules, balancing Soljans wines with contract bottling work, and making sure materials, people and equipment are ready ahead of each run

  • Keep accurate records of dry goods (glass, closures, labels, cartons) and finished stock, carry out stock counts, and flag shortfalls early

  • Place and track orders with suppliers so production isn't held up by missing materials

  • Be the first point of contact for contract bottling clients and suppliers — confirming specifications, schedules and deliveries, and keeping everyone informed before, during and after a run

  • Maintain complete, accurate specification and QC records for every run, kept up to date and easy to retrieve

  • Record and reconcile outgoing stock and dispatch paperwork

  • Carry out and record QC checks during production, and act quickly when something isn't right

  • Set up the line for each run and supervise line staff so production runs safely and to specification

  • Work on the line alongside the team when the run needs it

  • Diagnose and resolve line faults, and look for practical ways to reduce downtime and waste

About you

  • Previous experience in production administration, or in a production, manufacturing or warehouse role with real admin responsibility

  • Strong record-keeping and planning skills, with the discipline to keep paperwork right while things are busy

  • Confident with spreadsheets and email, and comfortable learning inventory or production systems

  • Clear, professional and reliable communication with clients, suppliers and the wider team

  • Comfortable working around machinery, with the mechanical sense to identify and fix common line issues

  • Experience supervising or leading a small team, or the confidence to step into that responsibility

  • Forklift licence (F endorsement), or willingness to obtain one

  • Full driver's licence and reliable transport to Kumeu

  • Sound understanding of safe practice in a production environment

  • Able to stand, lift and work on the line for extended periods, with some flexibility during busier production periods

About us

Soljans Estate Winery is a family-owned winery in Kumeu, West Auckland, making wine since 1937. Five generations on, we’re still family-run, with a close-knit team across our winery, cellar door and venue. We like to be in control of things, so having our onsite production line is a very important part of our business.
