The opportunity
Tungsten & Tool has been supplying cutting tools to New Zealand industry for more than 40 years. From their base in Whangārei, they support businesses across the country in aluminium joinery, kitchens and cabinetry, signs and plastics, composites and marine, and steel fabrication. Alongside the tools themselves, they offer sharpening, custom tool design and the kind of technical advice that keeps their customers’ production running.
Part of what they offer customers is a clear service promise: same-day dispatch and fast delivery nationwide.
This role is a big part of keeping that promise. Stock comes in, orders go out, customers get in touch, and you’re the person making sure it all lines up. It’s a small team, so the work is varied and the way this role runs has a direct effect on what customers experience.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll look after the flow of product through the business, from the moment it arrives to the moment it leaves. That includes:
What you’ll bring
Accuracy is the big one. A lot of this role comes down to getting the detail right when goods come in and go out, because everything else depends on it.
You’ll be organised, comfortable a mixture of regular routine work and getting stuck in where you’re needed, and someone who sees what needs doing and gets on with it without waiting to be asked. You’re confident with systems and software. Experience with Unleashed or a similar inventory system is helpful, and a background in small business operations, inventory, logistics or purchasing would be useful, but neither is essential.
When needed, you'll be working with customers in person, on the phone, by email and text. A calm, professional and friendly manner matters.
Why it’s worth a look
It’s a small team that enjoys a bit of banter and a laugh, and they’re looking for someone who will fit in, work well with others and feel comfortable asking for help when needed.
The role offers plenty of variety, covering everything from the storeroom, dispatch and purchasing through to customer service and admin. No two days are quite the same, and being part of a small team means your contribution makes a real difference. The business also values finding better ways of doing things, so there’s genuine opportunity to improve workflows, streamline processes and lift accuracy along the way.
Integrity, doing things right and treating people well are at the heart of the business. For the right person, there’s also room to take on more responsibility, develop new skills and grow alongside the business.
