About the Role
We're looking for a values-driven Service Manager to join Community Living and support disabled people to live lives of meaning, connection, contribution, and self-determination.
This is a leadership role with a difference, and our way is Nou Te Mana (the power is within you).
Rather than leading through hierarchy and control, you'll create the conditions for people, whānau, and teams to thrive. You'll work alongside support teams to build capability, strengthen decision-making, and support great outcomes for the people we work with.
As Community Living continues its transformation journey, you'll play an important role in supporting autonomous teams, distributed leadership, and person-directed practice.
About Us
Our work is guided by Nou Te Mana.
Our practice framework is grounded in:
Mana Motuhake - Choice, control, and self-determination
Whakarangatira - Dignity, respect, and mana
Whakawhanaungatanga - Relationships, belonging, and connection
Enabling Good Lives
Supporting disabled people to have choice and control, ordinary life outcomes, and meaningful connections within their communities.
How We Lead
We are building an organisation that embraces:
Purpose-driven decision making
Shared leadership and distributed authority
Trust, accountability, and learning
Bringing our whole selves to work
Decisions made as close as possible to the people we support
What You'll Be Doing
Supporting teams to deliver personalised, high-quality services
Coaching and developing people to grow confidence and capability
Partnering with disabled people and whānau to achieve meaningful outcomes
Leading service quality, continuous improvement, and good practice
Managing service performance, resources, and budgets
Building strong relationships across communities and networks
Championing Enabling Good Lives, Nou Te Mana, and culturally responsive practice
What We're Looking For
You'll bring:
Leadership experience within disability, health, social services, or a related sector
A passion for person-directed practice and the rights of disabled people
A coaching mindset and the ability to support others to grow
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Experience managing operational performance and resources
The ability to navigate complexity with confidence, curiosity, and care
A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
What Will Set You Apart
You believe leadership is about creating the conditions for others to succeed.
You lead through influence rather than authority, focus on possibilities rather than limitations, and are passionate about supporting disabled people to live great lives.
What We Offer
A purpose-led organisation making a real difference
The opportunity to influence meaningful outcomes for disabled people
A supportive environment focused on growth, learning, and innovation
Opportunities for professional and leadership development
The chance to be part of an exciting organisational transformation journey
