Lifeskills (previously called Skills Update) is a well-established private training organisation; operating in NZ since 1991. We are seeking an experienced individual from the tertiary training sector to lead our mainly trades based teaching team in Henderson. This role is full-time Academic Manager position, that will be campus based, working alongside the teaching team that you will be leading.
You will be supporting a team of tutors delivering level 1 to 4 mainly trade-based qualifications, as well as foundation level training to support numeracy and literacy development for both youth and adult learners. Experience and passion in teaching is needed, in addition to knowledge of quality assurance practices and impeccable organisational skills, to ensure that all the compliance and administrative functions of your job are completed to a high standard. As you are leading a team, you also need to have proven skills in leading a team for high performance, including experience in mentoring new tutors who come from their respective industry's.
You will need to have an understanding of the NZ tertiary education system, experience in working with complex needs rangatahi, and previous experience leading a team within a training organisation.
We are looking for someone with:
A minimum of 10 years working in the tertiary education sector, including at least 3 years' experience at management level
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Passion and energy for teaching and training others
Unit Standard 4098, and a certificate in Adult Education either level 4 or 5
Full Class 1 NZ Drivers licence
Ability and enthusiasm to lead a team
Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident or hold a current NZ work permit.
