Senior Project Manager – Rail
Senior Project Manager – Rail
Location: UK or Republic of Ireland | Location flexible
Join Us in Shaping the Future of Rail Infrastructure
Are you an experienced project manager with a strong background in rail or complex transport infrastructure? Join Tetra Tech and take ownership of high-profile projects that support the future of rail across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
You will work with clients, technical specialists, delivery partners and stakeholders to lead projects from early development through design, consents, delivery and handover. This is an opportunity to apply your technical leadership, commercial judgement and project management expertise to complex, multidisciplinary rail programmes.
Purpose & Scope of the Role
As Senior Project Manager, you will lead complex rail projects or substantial project workstreams through the full project lifecycle, establishing and managing the project scope, delivery strategy, baseline programme, resources, budget and reporting arrangements. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams across rail systems, civil and structural engineering, stations and depots, environmental services, and stakeholder and third-party interfaces. The role involves managing project risks, opportunities, issues, decisions, change and commercial performance, as well as coordinating design reviews, assurance, approvals, procurement and construction interfaces to ensure deliverables are properly integrated, coordinated and accepted at each stage. You will also promote safe design and delivery in line with applicable UK or Irish duties, project assurance requirements and site arrangements.
Your Impact in This Position
Your leadership will help ensure that complex rail projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality, programme and commercial outcomes. You will provide clear direction to multidisciplinary project teams, build effective relationships with clients, operators, infrastructure managers, contractors and statutory bodies, and resolve technical, organisational and delivery interfaces before they affect project outcomes. You will maintain strong control of programme, cost, risk, change and resources, lead client meetings, provide accurate and concise progress reporting, escalate decisions at an early stage, and maintain clear records of commitments, actions and change. You will also support the development of bids and fee proposals, while mentoring project managers and assistant project managers and contributing to the growth of project delivery capability across the business.
