About the role

Akarua is a Central Otago wine estate in Bannockburn, known for Pinot Noir & Chardonnay. We're looking for a warm, knowledgeable Cellar Door Host & Sales Assistant to look after our guests and grow sales at the cellar door.

Key responsibilities

• Host wine tastings and guided experiences for visitors and groups

• Sell wine at the cellar door, sign up Wine Club members and process sales accurately

• Share the story of Akarua, our vineyards and our wines with confidence

• Help with events at the cellar door and Barrel Hall

• Wine club dispatch

• Keep tasting areas presented to a high standard and assist with stock and displays

• Daily admin tasks such as stock inventory, cash process, opening and closing procedure

• Reasonable travel required on occasion for special event, wine and food festival, afterworks tasting

About you

• Essential: a current Duty Manager's Certificate (Manager's Certificate under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012)

• Some experience in hospitality, retail or wine sales

• Excellent customer service and communication skills

• Interest in, and knowledge of, wine

• A wine qualification (such as a degree in winemaking or WSET) is an advantage

• Able to work weekends and public holidays as rostered
