Substitute Teacher Associate
Location: Bridges Learning Center (Ottumwa Juvenile Shelter School) – Ottumwa, IA
Pay: $16. 89 – $17. 39/hour
Schedule: On-Call, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM (No nights, weekends, or holidays)

About the Role

Join our supportive classroom team assisting a small group of approximately 9 students. You will work directly alongside a lead teacher and another associate (3:1 student-to-staff ratio) to provide instruction, structure, and positive encouragement throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities

• Support students with academic assignments one-on-one or in small groups.
• Reinforce positive behavioral supports and daily classroom routines.
• Build trusting, encouraging relationships with students.
• Help track basic academic, behavioral, and attendance data.
• Maintain strict student confidentiality (FERPA/HIPAA).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• On-call weekday availability (8:00 AM – 3:30 PM) and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
• Iowa Paraeducator Certification or prior youth experience is a plus.
