Electrical Engineer – Public Infrastructure

About the role

Infradeploy designs, builds and maintains Sydney's public infrastructure: street lighting, sports field lighting, smartpoles, public switchboards and EV charging stations, for government and corporate clients.

We're looking for a mid-level electrical engineer to join our team, based in our Sydney CBD office and reporting to the Senior Project Manager. You'll design and draft public lighting, sports lighting, switchboard and EV charging projects, then see them built by our own field crews.

This is a permanent role with a growing business, where your designs go straight from the drawing board to site.

What you'll be doing

• Designing street and public lighting, including lighting calculations to AS/NZS 1158

• Designing sports field lighting, including lighting calculations to AS 2560 and obtrusive light assessments to AS/NZS 4282

• Designing EV charging installations, including load assessments, supply capacity checks and cable sizing to AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3008

• Designing switchboard installations and carrying out switchboard asset reviews

• Drafting electrical site layouts, single line diagrams and construction drawings in AutoCAD

• Carrying out site inspections and investigations to inform designs

• Preparing design reports, specifications and material schedules

• Supporting field crews during construction and updating drawings to as-built

• Working with councils and clients on design submissions and approvals

About you

You're an electrical engineer with a background in lighting, power distribution or infrastructure design. You're a strong drafter who produces your own accurate, compliant drawings, and you understand how designs get built on site. You communicate clearly with clients, project managers and electricians alike.

Essential

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

• 3–7 years' experience in electrical design

• Strong drafting skills, including producing your own construction drawings

• Proficiency in AutoCAD

• Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3008

• Experience with lighting design software (AGi32, DIALux or similar)

• Current driver's licence

Highly regarded

• RPEQ registration, or eligible to register, for potential Queensland projects

• CPEng or NER registration, or working towards it

• Street lighting design experience to AS/NZS 1158

• Sports lighting design experience to AS 2560

• EV charging infrastructure design experience

• Switchboard design or asset condition assessment experience

• Government or council project experience
