The Role

We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our New Zealand Finance team.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a broad, hands-on role with responsibility across financial accounting, month-end reporting, statutory compliance, budgeting and forecasting. You’ll play an important part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial information while supporting the wider business with timely and meaningful financial reporting.

This is a great opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys getting across the detail while also developing a strong understanding of the commercial drivers behind the numbers.

 What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations and monthly management accounts

• Analysing results and explaining variances against budget and prior periods

• Supporting branch, sales and margin reporting

• Maintaining the fixed asset and lease registers

• Preparing GST, FBT and NRWT returns and supporting PAYE obligations

• Completing bank and inventory reconciliations

• Supporting intercompany transactions and settlements

• Assisting with annual budgeting and rolling forecasts

• Supporting half-year and year-end financial reporting and consolidation

• Assisting with the year-end audit process

• Monitoring financial controls and identifying anomalies or areas for improvement

• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the Finance team

• Contributing to finance process improvements and ad-hoc projects.

 What You'll Bring

• CA or CPA qualification

• At least 4 years’ experience in a similar accounting role

• A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Confidence working independently while being a collaborative team member

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
