Key responsibilities include:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot complex process and equipment issues.
- Maintain production recipes, process parameters, control limits and technical documentation.
- Work with Automation and Engineering to implement automation updates, process changes and technology improvements.
- Support food safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to operators.
- Support trials, engineering modifications and capital projects.
What you'll bring
You'll be a practical, improvement-focused technical professional who enjoys getting to the root of problems and working alongside production teams to deliver better outcomes.
Ideally, you'll have:
- A qualification in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Technology, Dairy Science or Dairy Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least three years' technical experience in dairy or food manufacturing operations, and 6 years+ total operational experience.
- A strong understanding of process control, automation and manufacturing systems, including the ability to read and write functional descriptions for automation changes (highly advantageous).
- Experience in technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- An understanding of food safety and quality systems, including FSSC 22000, HACCP and RMP.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to coach and guide others without formal management authority.
The details
- Location: Hokitika, West Coast (onsite, non negotiable)
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, typically 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Work environment: On-site, supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation, with occasional flexibility required outside standard hours
- Remuneration: Relocation support + competitive salary depending on experience (to be disucssed in initial prescreen).
