Massey High School is seeking an Electrical Tutor commencing in the 2027 school year.

The Role

At Massey Building Academy, we're passionate about creating opportunities for young people to develop practical skills and build successful careers in the trades. We're helping develop the next generation of New Zealand's electrical and construction workforce.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced electrical professional to share their industry knowledge, develop the skills of young people and help establish an exciting pathway into the electrical industry while working within a secondary school environment.

Massey Building Academy based at Massey High School is expanding its trades training opportunities, giving students the chance to gain practical, hands on experience alongside their secondary education. Through structured training, practical projects and industry-based learning, students develop the foundation skills, knowledge and work habits needed to progress into electrical apprenticeships and further industry training.

As the Electrical Tutor, you'll be responsible for delivering and developing practical electrical training to Year 13 high school students, introducing them to the fundamentals of electrical systems, installation practices, tools, equipment and workplace safety. You'll support students to develop their understanding of electrical principles and apply their learning through practical activities and supervised projects.

Working alongside the Head of Massey Building Academy, school staff, industry partners and relevant training providers, you'll help deliver the electrical component of the Academy's programme, supporting students to develop the confidence, technical knowledge and professional behaviours expected within the electrical industry.

You'll also play an important role in developing practical learning opportunities, supporting students working towards relevant training outcomes and establishing connections with electrical contractors and employers to create future apprenticeship and employment pathways.

This is an opportunity to pass on your industry experience, make a genuine difference in the lives of young people and help grow the electrical pathway within an established and developing trades academy.
