Recreation Therapist, CTRS (Part-Time and Full-Time) - Holtsville, New York
Island Nursing and Rehab Center, a renowned not-for-profit nursing facility, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Recreation Therapist, CTRS to join our team. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a vital role in creating a positive and engaging environment for our residents, providing them with meaningful experiences and activities that promote their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Responsibilities:
Conduct initial assessments and maintain care plans, progress notes, and complete documentation in a timely and accurate manner, as per facility policy
Develop and implement a variety of resident activities, programs, and services, including arts and crafts, music therapy, and outdoor activities
Collaborate with the Director of Therapeutic Recreation and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure a comprehensive approach to resident care
Provide transportation for residents on community outings and pick up facility supplies, utilizing the facility van
Maintain knowledge of governmental, accreditation, professional, and facility standards, regulations, and practices
Participate in opportunities for continuing education and stay up-to-date on current trends, techniques, and methods in the field of Recreation Therapy
Demonstrate commitment to advancing the use of TR Services, ensuring quality and protection, and promoting the rights of persons receiving services
Requirements:
Must have successfully completed, C.T.R.S. certification, MT-BC Music Therapist certification, ART-BC Art Therapist, or other certification
Thorough knowledge of various resident activities and familiarity with resident limitations and needs
Ability to work in close cooperation with the Director of Therapeutic Recreation and display initiative to complete activities, related tasks, and programs
Minimum 2 years of experience in a long-term care setting
