The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Delivery Engineer to join our Professional Services team and take a leading role in designing and delivering Microsoft Azure, cloud and infrastructure solutions for our customers.

This is a senior, hands-on technical role where you’ll work across the full project lifecycle, from understanding customer requirements and solution design through to implementation, migration, testing and handover.

You’ll work closely with Solution Architects, Project Managers, Sales, Customer Success and our wider Engineering team. You’ll also act as a senior technical escalation point, mentor other engineers and help shape the standards and best practices we use to deliver solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and deliver Azure solutions, including landing zones, migrations, hybrid infrastructure, networking, identity, security, monitoring and backup.

  • Lead technical project delivery from solution design and scoping through implementation, testing, documentation and handover.

  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Bicep or Terraform and support deployment automation through Azure DevOps or GitHub.

  • Design and deliver hybrid environments connecting on-premises infrastructure with Microsoft Azure.

  • Work directly with customers and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.

  • Manage technical risks, scope and delivery issues, escalating where required to keep projects on track.

  • Act as a senior technical escalation point and provide guidance across the wider Engineering team.

  • Mentor Project Engineers, peer review technical designs and contribute to reusable standards, templates and best practices.

  • Maintain high-quality technical and as-built documentation and support the successful transition of completed solutions into BAU support.

  • Continue developing your expertise across Azure and Microsoft technologies through ongoing learning and certification.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone with strong hands-on technical experience and the confidence to take ownership of complex customer solutions.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • 7+ years' experience in IT infrastructure, cloud or technical project delivery, including 4+ years designing and delivering Azure solutions.

  • Experience successfully delivering large or complex technology projects.

  • Strong Microsoft Azure knowledge across:

    • Azure landing zones, management groups, Azure Policy, RBAC and governance

    • Azure networking including virtual networks, hub-and-spoke architecture, Azure Firewall, VPN, ExpressRoute and DNS

    • Entra ID, Entra Connect, Conditional Access and hybrid Active Directory

    • Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery and Azure Backup

    • Virtual machines, Azure Virtual Desktop, storage accounts and managed disks

    • Azure Monitor and Log Analytics

  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Windows Server and Active Directory.

  • Experience with on-premises infrastructure including virtualisation, storage, backup and disaster recovery.

  • Experience designing and delivering hybrid cloud solutions across on-premises and Azure environments.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Bicep or Terraform, along with PowerShell scripting or automation.

  • Strong networking knowledge across firewalls, ACLs, subnets, routing, VLANs and IPsec.

  • Experience designing technical solutions and accurately scoping the effort required to deliver them.

  • Strong customer-facing communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.

Qualifications

Ideally, you'll have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

We’re also looking for relevant Microsoft Azure certification, including:

  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400); and

  • Ideally one of AZ-500, SC-300, AZ-700 or AZ-104.

What Success Looks Like

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Are customer-focused and commercially aware.

  • Enjoy taking ownership of complex technical challenges.

  • Can turn business requirements into well-designed, practical technical solutions.

  • Communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Enjoy mentoring others and sharing your knowledge.

  • Are curious about new technology and committed to continually developing your skills.

Why Lancom?

  • Southern Cross Health Insurance.

  • Modern Auckland office with complimentary snacks, drinks and great coffee.

  • Ongoing investment in professional development and Microsoft certifications.

  • Exposure to leading cloud, security and emerging technologies.

  • A culture built around learning, collaboration and innovation.

  • Opportunities to mentor others, influence technical standards and grow your career.
