An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Risk Manager to join an established organisation based in Auckland CBD on a 4–6 month contract.
This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on operational and enterprise risk management, supporting the business to identify, assess and manage risks across its operations, projects and change initiatives.
Working closely with business leaders and stakeholders across New Zealand and Australia, you will provide practical risk advice, strengthen risk management practices and support informed decision-making.
The role offers a broad range of responsibilities and would suit an experienced Risk Manager who enjoys working closely with the business rather than focusing predominantly on regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and ongoing development of operational and enterprise risk management frameworks.
- Identify, assess and manage operational risks, including those associated with business change and transformation initiatives.
- Support the application of risk appetite frameworks to business activities and decision-making.
- Partner with stakeholders across New Zealand and Australia to strengthen risk awareness, ownership and accountability.
- Provide practical advice on emerging risks, controls and appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Support risk assessments, reporting and governance processes, ensuring risks are appropriately identified and managed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen risk management practices across the business.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Proven experience in an Operational Risk Manager, Risk Manager or similar position.
- Strong knowledge of operational and enterprise risk management frameworks and practices.
- Experience assessing change-related risks and supporting business transformation initiatives.
- A sound understanding of risk appetite frameworks and their practical application.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge constructively.
- The ability to provide pragmatic, commercially focused risk advice.
- Experience working across multiple business units or geographical regions would be advantageous.
