About the role
As a Production & Machine Optimiser / Maintenance Assistant, you will support and enhance production performance at our kiwifruit packing and coolstorage facility. This role is central to hitting production targets, maximising line efficiency, and ensuring machinery runs at peak capability. You'll work closely with the senior leadership team to improve throughput, reduce downtime, and help deliver consistent, high-quality results.
Key responsibilities
Support daily production targets by ensuring machinery and optimiser systems run efficiently
Monitor machinery outputs to drive consistent packout quality and achieve targeted production volumes
Identify bottlenecks and support changes that increase throughput and reduce waste
Provide hands-on assistance with machine set-ups and changeovers to keep the line running smoothly
Assist with preventative maintenance and basic repairs to reduce downtime
Help maintain accurate SOPs and production documentation
Work with operations, quality, and maintenance teams to uplift overall equipment performance
About you
Mechanically minded with practical troubleshooting ability
Understanding of packhouse or production-line workflows (preferred)
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to follow established procedures and documentation standards
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
Positive attitude, initiative, and willingness to learn
Strong communication and teamwork skills
