Position Overview
We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic college students to make a meaningful impact in our community by supporting middle school students. As an After-School Tutor, you will provide critical academic guidance to students in a structured classroom setting, helping them build confidence and master core subjects. This is an excellent opportunity to gain classroom experience, build your resume, and give back to local youth.
Schedule & Commitment
- Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Hours: 3:45 PM – 5:45 PM (Includes 15 minutes of prep and wrap-up around the 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM student session).
- Setting: Single, structured classroom environment
Key Responsibilities
- Targeted Academic Support: Assist students with homework, and skill-building during the 1.5-hour session.
- Core Subject Tutoring: Provide clear explanations and guidance, with the highest focus areas being Math, Language Arts, and Science.
- Mentorship: Serve as a positive collegiate role model, encouraging students to stay focused and motivated.
- Classroom Collaboration: Work alongside program staff to maintain a supportive, productive, and quiet learning environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Currently enrolled as a college or university student.
- Subject Familiarity: Strong foundational knowledge in middle school-level Math, Language Arts, or Science.
- Soft Skills: Patient, encouraging, and able to communicate complex concepts in a simple, accessible way for middle schoolers.
- Reliability: Consistent attendance and punctuality are required to provide a stable learning environment for our students.
This is an “at will” position that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
