About the role
- Manage and grow an established mid-market commercial portfolio across all general insurance lines
- Prepare and run client and prospect presentations and lead negotiations with insurers
- Build new business through networking, referrals, community connections and the leads and benchmarking tools provided
- Coach and develop junior brokers so they can build their own client base
- Visit client sites, look at their operations and talk to owners about where they are taking the business
- Certificate in Financial Services (NZQA Level 5)
- 5+ years of genuine commercial broking experience, ideally at upper SME or mid-market level (7+ years for the most senior level)
- A track record of managing and growing an existing commercial book
- Confidence presenting to and negotiating with business owners and key decision makers
- A willingness to share your knowledge with less experienced brokers
- Based in the Wellington region, as the role is built around face-to-face client service
- Individual remuneration package. Base salary is set on your experience and the size of your book.
- Incentives, with a share of new business written above target
- Higher incentive options if your focus leans towards new business
- Car allowance or company vehicle, fuel card and car park, and a senior insurance plan
