We're launching something brand new.

And we need someone with a unique set of skills to help us change the way schools work in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Policy Pilot is taking on a player that has been around for a very long time but, in our view, isn't delivering what schools need from a policy management system.

We know schools in Aotearoa deserve better. And we know we can deliver better for our customers.

Policy Pilot is just getting started, and we expect it to grow significantly over the next three years. We're looking for someone who wants to get in at the beginning and help us build something exciting and special.

To very loosely paraphrase Liam Neeson in Taken...

“You have a very particular set of skills.” Skills you've acquired over a long career. Skills that make you a dream for principals and board members. If you aren't interested, that'll be the end of it. We will not look for you. We will not pursue you. But if you want to help us deliver a better policy system and make a difference to schools across Aotearoa, we will look for you, we will find you, and we will hire you.

What are we looking for?

We know the person we're looking for doesn't fall into a tidy little box.

What we're looking for is unique. And pretty niche.

We need someone who understands policies, policy frameworks and the unique requirements of schools in Aotearoa.

You might have written school policies. You might have managed policy frameworks. You may have worked with school policies from an HR or health and safety perspective. You might have been a principal, board member or staff member in a school.

Or maybe you've done a bit of everything.

We know we're looking for a bit of a unicorn, but we believe there's someone out there who's perfect for our team.

If you're reading this and thinking, “This sounds weirdly like me”, we'd really like to hear from you.

What does this role involve?

That's a really good question.

This is an entirely new service we're launching, so while we have a huge amount of experience in the education sector, you'll bring skills and experience that we need to add to what we already have.

We're not looking for someone to simply step into a job that's been done the same way for the last ten years. You'll have the opportunity to help us shape the role and Policy Pilot itself.

Initially, the role will involve a lot of policy writing and reviewing. You'll work with schools to onboard them and make sure they know how to get the most from our platform.

There'll also be opportunities to connect and talk with new clients, understand what schools need and help us make Policy Pilot even better.

And as this part of our organisation grows and develops, there'll be opportunities for you to grow with it.

So, who are Schooled?

Schooled is a non-profit dedicated to supporting the education sector.

We started back in 1989 as a school-owned cooperative providing accounting services, and we've been supporting schools, early childhood centres and non-profits ever since.

In 2024, we changed our name to Schooled Limited and today we're owned by the CES Foundation. We're a non-profit, and our surpluses go back into the education sector to support ECE, primary, intermediate and secondary education across Aotearoa.

We provide accounting and financial services to around 250 schools, kura, ECEs and non-profits from Whangārei to Southland.

Every year, we run professional development for 800–1,000 school administration and property staff across the motu.

Our Election Pilot service is the only provider that has been continually accredited to run online school board elections since they were introduced in 2022. At the last school board elections, we supported more than 1,000 kura, ran more than 1,600 elections and looked after more than 8,000 candidates and 755,000 registered voters.

Supporting education isn't something we just talk about. It's something our entire team lives and breathes every day.

And now we're looking for someone to help us build what's next.

Have you got that very particular set of skills?

We'd love to hear from you. If you want to talk more, feel free to email Jonathan Brooks, the General Manager at [email protected].

We are expecting this role to start in mid-January 2027.
