GARDENING TEAM LEADER | QUEENSTOWN
$35–$50 per hour | Full-time
Some people see a garden and see a lawn to mow.
You see what it could become. You notice the plant that isn’t thriving, the detail everyone else missed, the job that could be done better. You know when to step in, when to let your team figure it out, and when something simply isn’t good enough.

At Groundswell Landscapes, we look after some of the most impressive residential gardens in Queenstown. These are properties where the details matter, the expectations are high, and doing a good job means more than getting through a list of tasks.
We need someone who can take ownership.
Someone who knows their horticulture, can lead a team of 2–6 people, and has the confidence to make decisions without needing someone looking over their shoulder.
You’ll be out in the gardens, sleeves rolled up, setting the pace, solving problems and bringing out the best in the people around you.
You’ll have responsibility, trust and the freedom to do things properly.
And at the end of the day? You’ll have something tangible to show for it.
YOUR OFFICE HAS A PRETTY GOOD VIEW.
Queenstown isn’t a bad place to spend your working week.
One day, you’re working in a beautifully established garden beneath the Remarkables. The next, you’re fine-tuning an irrigation system, solving a practical challenge, or helping a team member grow their skills.
It’s hands-on work, a great team, and a pretty spectacular place to do it.
When work’s done, the mountains, trails, lake and ski fields are right here.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
We’re interested in what you know, how you work and the kind of person you are.
You’ll ideally have:
At least 3 years of professional gardening experience.
Strong horticultural knowledge and an eye for detail.
The confidence to lead, motivate and develop a team.
A practical mindset and the ability to solve problems on site.
Good organisational skills and the ability to plan ahead.
The people skills to build genuine client relationships.
High standards, a strong work ethic and a reputation for reliability.
A full, clean manual driver’s licence.
Experience with irrigation and agricultural chemicals is an advantage.
Already a team leader? Great. An experienced gardener ready to take the next step? We’re interested in that, too.
You don’t need to know everything. You do need to care about getting it right.
