About the role
The Purchasing and Inventory Controller is responsible for supporting the effective end-to-end management of purchasing and inventory, with a particular focus on inventory availability, accuracy, health and control.
Working closely with the National Procurement and Logistics Manager, warehouse team, suppliers and Lab Supply's 3PL provider, the role is responsible for identifying inventory and supply risks and taking or recommending appropriate action to support customer service, inventory efficiency and business growth.
Key responsibilities
Develop, foster, and enhance relationships with Lab Supply suppliers and stakeholders
Analyze inventory data to forecast future inventory needs, maintain optimal stock levels across warehouses and 3PL and identify trends and risks requiring action
Place purchase orders with suppliers to meet customer back orders and forecasted stock requirements, check supplier order confirmations against each PO, and keep ETA information up to date in the ERP
Coordinate inbound inventory from suppliers through to receipt and availability in the ERP system, liaising with freight forwarders to track shipments and manage delivery timings
Monitor inventory performance measures including inventory accuracy, stock availability, stock turns, aged inventory and write-offs.
Work closely with the National Procurement and Logistics Manager to implement national procurement initiatives and supplier strategies.
Liaise with customers to confirm licensing and permit requirements for tracked products, ensuring all required permits are obtained and valid before products are ordered or dispatched
