About the role
We are seeking an experienced Builder to join Modscape on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a forward-thinking company in the building trades sector, based in Whanganui Central Manawatu. As a Builder, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality construction projects, ensuring exceptional standards are maintained throughout each phase of development. Your expertise and attention to detail will directly contribute to our reputation for excellence in the building industry.
What you'll be doing
Overseeing and managing construction projects from planning through to completion
Coordinating with architects, engineers and other tradespeople to ensure seamless project execution
Reading and interpreting architectural plans and building specifications
Ensuring all work complies with building codes, safety regulations and company standards
Managing project timelines, budgets and resources effectively
Conducting quality inspections and addressing any defects or issues promptly
Supervising and mentoring construction teams on-site
Liaising with clients to provide updates and address concerns
Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all construction activities
Health and safety compliance, including hazard identification and risk management on-site
What we're looking for
Proven experience working as a Builder in the construction industry, ideally with several years of hands-on experience
Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations and best practices relevant to New Zealand
Competency in reading and interpreting architectural and technical drawings
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and supervise tradespeople
Sound understanding of project budgeting and cost management
Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors and stakeholders
A commitment to health and safety practices on-site
Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Relevant qualifications or certifications in the building trades (advantageous)
A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel within the region as required
