Rushton Marketing is looking for a skilled photographer or videographer to capture standout content for our clients. This is a craft-first role. Your skill behind the camera is the priority, and social media experience is a bonus, not the main event.
About us
We provide outsourced marketing expertise to business owners. After 12 years in business, we’re a team of 13 across two offices in Ashburton and Timaru. Our services include social media content management, social media advertising, Google Ads, AI SEO, website design, email marketing and outsourced marketing management.
The role
You’ll join our content team and your days will consist of:
Planning and running photo and video shoots on location at client businesses, from Oamaru to North Canterbury
Capturing high-quality photography and video, including short-form vertical video for Reels, TikTok and ads
Editing and delivering finished assets on time, organised and ready for the content team
Planning shoots with our content team around each client’s calendar and campaign goals
Directing business owners and their teams on camera, and making them feel comfortable doing it
Communicating directly with clients by email, phone and on site
Supporting with content management tasks (captions, scheduling, reporting) where your skills fit
Learning new skills and taking on new tasks as the business grows
What you’ll need
Proven, professional-level skill in photography and/or videography, with a strong portfolio to show us
Confidence editing video in CapCut and Adobe Premiere Pro, and photos in Adobe Lightroom
A great eye for lighting, composition and storytelling, plus an understanding of what works on social media
Your own professional camera equipment
A full driver’s licence and your own reliable vehicle for work travel
Excellent client manner: polite, personable and professional on site
Strong organisation and time management, and the ability to work independently across multiple clients
Bonus points for
Experience managing social media content for a business or personal brand, ideally on Facebook, Instagram and/or TikTok
A flair for copywriting and caption writing
Spotting trends and coming up with clever content ideas
Drone experience
Where and when
This is a hybrid role based across our offices in Ashburton and Timaru. You’ll spend a good chunk of your week out on location with clients, so you need to be comfortable with regular travel. The role is permanent and full time (40 hours, Monday to Friday) and starts with a 90-day trial period.
