The company
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and highly regarded Quantity Surveying and Construction Cost Consultancy as it enters its next phase of growth in Wellington.
With a strong reputation for delivering practical, high-quality commercial advice, the business works across a diverse portfolio of developments and has built long-standing relationships throughout the New Zealand construction industry. The culture is professional but down-to-earth, with strong staff retention, genuine career progression and an experienced senior team behind you.
The Position
This is far more than another Senior Quantity Surveyor position. You will become the consultancy's first permanent team member based in Wellington, playing a key role in establishing and growing its local presence.
There is already a strong Wellington workload in place, with current and upcoming projects spanning large-scale residential subdivisions, apartments, townhouses, hotels, industrial developments, shopping centres, seismic strengthening, refurbishments and other commercial projects.
You will take ownership of projects and client relationships, providing trusted commercial advice across procurement, tendering, contract administration, progress payments, variations, project risks, cost movements and contractual matters. The position will also involve preparing Bank Funding Reports and, as the Wellington operation develops, supporting junior staff and contributing to the wider growth of the business.
Although you will operate independently in Wellington day-to-day, you won't be building the office alone. You'll have regular support, mentoring and collaboration from experienced directors, management and technical staff within the wider business.
Skills and experience required
To make an impact in this position, you will ideally bring:
This is a rare opportunity to combine the security and resources of an established consultancy with the autonomy and influence of helping build a new local office.
You'll have the chance to lead projects, strengthen client relationships and shape the future Wellington team, with considerable scope to influence how the local operation develops. In return, you'll receive competitive remuneration, professional development opportunities and the backing of an experienced, supportive wider team.
For an ambitious Senior QS who wants their next move to offer genuine ownership, visibility and growth, this is a standout opportunity.
