The opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Bar Manager to lead a bar that is polished, welcoming and commercially disciplined. This is an autonomous operational role for someone who values genuine guest connection, quality service and the coastal lifestyle.
You’ll have the freedom to shape a distinctive beverage experience, from beautifully executed cocktails and coffee to imaginative non-alcoholic and lower-alcohol options that support our emerging hauora inu direction.
You’ll focus on:
Leading daily bar operations and creating a warm, attentive experience that keeps guests coming back.
Developing a thoughtful, profitable beverage programme featuring cocktails, mocktails, wine, beer, spirits and consistently excellent coffee.
Building, training and coaching a capable team with clear standards, strong systems and shared pride in the guest experience.
Managing stock, costs, service flow, licensing and safety with close attention to quality and commercial performance.
What you’ll bring
You’re a calm, energetic hospitality leader who notices the details and enjoys helping others perform at their best. You bring creativity to the drinks list, discipline to the operation and genuine warmth to every guest interaction.
You’ll bring:
Proven experience leading a bar or senior bar team within a quality hotel, restaurant, resort or comparable venue.
Strong practical skills across cocktails, signature drink development, batching, bar service and barista coffee.
Experience managing stock, ordering, beverage costs, wastage and day-to-day commercial performance.
Confident people leadership, sound judgement and a strong commitment to responsible service, safety and licensing requirements.
A current Manager’s Certificate and Licence Controller Qualification would be an advantage. You must be eligible and willing to obtain any certification required for rostered licensed-manager duties.
