A fantastic opportunity for an experienced, highly organised and adaptable Bookkeeper & Business Administrator to join a growing international equestrian online retail business.

This newly created role combines bookkeeping, general administration and inventory management. It requires someone who can think critically, solve problems and manage varied demands.

This is a part-time role on a 12 month fixed-term contract (possibility to extend or become permanent), initially 15 to 20 hours per week - however, the desired candidate is someone who has the scope to increase to up to 32 hours per week/full time within 6 to 8 months.

About You

  • Strong foundational bookkeeping experience and highly proficient in Xero.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Analytical and solutions-focused mindset.

  • Adaptable and comfortable managing competing priorities in a complex business environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proactive and resourceful, with the initiative to investigate unfamiliar problems and find solutions independently.

  • Willing to learn, take ownership and assist across a varied range of bookkeeping, operational and administrative tasks.

About the Business

A growing equestrian online retail business with entities registered in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom - operating within a small team based across the two countries.

The business structure and international nature create a level of complexity that requires sound judgement, initiative and the ability to look at the bigger picture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bank and account reconciliations, month-end processes.

  • GST returns (NZ) with potential involvement in VAT returns (UK).

  • Streamline financial processes between the NZ and UK businesses, improving flow of information across both Xero accounts and inventory management software.

  • Manage the inter-company account, monitoring stock movements, accounts payable and receivable to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in the correct entity (NZ or UK).

  • Purchase order assistance, processing shipments, and backend product management.

  • Maintaining accurate information across systems and resolving discrepancies.

  • General administration, data entry and record-keeping.

  • Supplier correspondence and coordination (under direction from the Founder).

  • Ad hoc support for the Founder, including reporting and operational tasks.

As this is a new role, it will evolve, so flexibility and a willingness to take on varied responsibilities are important.

Hours & Location

  • Initially 15–20 hours per week, negotiable.

  • Hybrid working from Pukekohe, home and occasionally Waiuku, depending on business needs which vary throughout the year.

The successful candidate will need the flexibility to work across these locations as required by the business, and have availability to increase hours as the role develops - anticipated 32 hours per week/full time within 6 to 8 months.
