Our smart technology gives customers greater visibility and control over their operations, with practical solutions that make a real difference on farm.
About the role
We're looking for a capable, hands-on Field Technician to join our Operations team, based in Pukete, Hamilton. This is a varied, field-based role where you'll be installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining HALO's monitoring and automation systems at customer sites, particularly across the dairy and agricultural sectors.
You'll spend plenty of time out on the road, working directly with customers, diagnosing technical issues and making sure systems are performing as they should. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, enjoys troubleshooting and has the practical skills to get things working.
Regular travel throughout the North Island, occasionally to the South Island, including overnight stays, is an essential part of the role. Key responsibilities include:
Install, commission, service and maintain HALO monitoring and automation systems.
Diagnose and resolve technical faults across sensors, equipment, power and communications.
Test and verify system performance, ensuring installations meet quality standards.
Work directly with customers, providing technical support and clear communication.
Coordinate with internal teams to plan jobs, resolve issues and ensure effective handovers.
Maintain accurate job records and contribute to ongoing improvements in service delivery.
Work safely and independently, taking ownership of quality outcomes.
About you
You'll be a practical problem solver who enjoys hands-on technical work and the satisfaction of getting things right. You're confident working independently, comfortable dealing with customers and willing to roll up your sleeves when challenges arise. Ideally, you'll bring:
Hands-on experience in technical installation, servicing, maintenance or fault-finding.
A good understanding of electrical or electronic equipment, sensors, communications or related technology.
Strong troubleshooting skills and a logical, solutions-focused approach.
Confidence working independently and taking ownership of your work.
Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
A full, valid driver's licence and flexibility for regular travel and overnight stays.
A strong commitment to health and safety and quality workmanship.
Experience in agriculture, dairy, telemetry, IoT or automation systems would be an advantage, along with relevant technical qualifications.
