Larnach Castle is seeking enthusiastic and engaging Tour Guides to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to work at one of New Zealand's most iconic visitor attractions, sharing the fascinating stories of the Larnach and Barker families with guests from around the world.
As a Tour Guide, you will play a key role in delivering memorable, informative, and entertaining tours while ensuring every guest receives outstanding customer service.
About the Role
As part of our Visitor Experience team, you will:
Deliver engaging guided tours through the Castle and grounds.
Bring the history of the Larnach and Barker families to life through accurate and entertaining storytelling.
Welcome and assist visitors from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Ensure tour groups move through the Castle safely and efficiently while maintaining an exceptional experience.
Answer visitor questions and provide information about the Castle, Dunedin, and the Otago Peninsula.
Support the delivery of group catering services, including table setup, food service, and venue presentation.
Assist with gift shop promotion and visitor retail experiences.
Contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the Castle and visitor facilities.
This is a part time fixed term contract, running from now until the middle of April 2027.

Confident speaking in front of groups of varying sizes.
Excellent communicators with a clear speaking voice.
Friendly, enthusiastic, and naturally engaging.
Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.
Quick learners with excellent attention to detail.
Comfortable multitasking in a busy tourism environment.
Reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Professional in presentation and conduct.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, visitor attractions, retail, or customer service. Including food service.
Knowledge of Dunedin's tourism offerings.
Additional language skills (an advantage but not essential).
