Maraenui Golf Club is looking for an Experienced Greenkeeper to join our friendly and hardworking Greenkeeping Team.
Located in sunny Hawke's Bay, we're a busy, welcoming golf club with a strong community focus. Our team looks after two courses – Maraenui Golf Club and Awatoto Public Course – providing plenty of variety and the opportunity to put your greenkeeping skills to good use.
We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being outdoors and is happy to roll up their sleeves as part of a small, supportive team.
Key responsibilities
Working alongside our Greenkeeping Team Leader and the wider Greenkeeping Team, you'll be involved in the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of both courses, including:
Maintaining greens, tees, fairways, rough and surrounding areas.
Operating and maintaining mowing equipment, machinery and irrigation systems.
Carrying out turf maintenance including mowing, aeration, fertilising and other seasonal treatments.
Identifying and assisting with turf, drainage and irrigation issues.
Maintaining bunkers, course features and general grounds.
Preparing the courses for competitions, tournaments and everyday play.
Supporting course improvement projects and general maintenance activities.
Following Health and Safety procedures and helping maintain a safe working environment.
What we're looking for
We're after someone with practical greenkeeping experience, a good work ethic and a positive attitude.
Ideally, you'll bring:
Previous experience in golf course greenkeeping or a similar turf maintenance role.
A sound understanding of turf care and seasonal maintenance practices.
Confidence operating a range of grounds maintenance machinery.
Experience with irrigation systems and general course maintenance.
The ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team.
Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
A reliable, practical approach and willingness to get stuck in.
A current driver's licence.
A formal greenkeeping qualification would be an advantage, but it's not essential. We're equally interested in hearing from people who have gained their knowledge and skills through hands-on experience.
What we offer
A full-time, permanent position in sunny Hawke's Bay.
Competitive remuneration based on experience and skills.
A friendly, down-to-earth team and supportive working environment.
The variety of working across two different golf courses.
Opportunities to develop your skills and contribute to course improvements.
The chance to be part of a welcoming club with a great community of members.
