About the role

You'll be a Regional Development Officer growing baseball across greater Wellington — from Wellington through to the Hutt Valley and Porirua. This is a hands-on, field-based delivery role. You won't be behind a desk. You'll be in schools during the mornings introducing kids to baseball, and at club training in the evenings working alongside coaches and players. The goal is simple: get more children playing baseball at local clubs. Everything you do is pointed at that outcome.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver back-to-back baseball sessions in primary schools Tuesday to Friday mornings for class groups of children aged 5–12, running drills, working stations, and ensuring every child has a positive first experience

  • Rotate across Wellington's active clubs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, working on the diamond alongside coaches and investing in junior and youth players

  • Manage school bookings, session notes, and regional coordination independently

  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, clubs, coaches, and players across the region

  • Cover greater Wellington, Hutt Valley, and Porirua daily

About you

  • Genuine baseball background — playing or coaching at club level or above

  • Good with people across all age groups and contexts

  • Self-managing — you confirm bookings, complete session notes, and follow through without supervision

  • Full NZ driver's licence and reliable vehicle

  • Police vetting clearance under the Children's Act 2014 (Baseball NZ covers the cost and supports the process)

  • Energy to show up at school at 8:30am and at club training at 6:00pm in the same day and genuinely enjoy both

  • 30 hours per week — a sustainable part-time load that fits around the baseball calendar

  • Real autonomy in how you manage your region and build your school relationships

  • Direct access to Baseball NZ's national leadership and Participation & Development programmes

  • Vehicle expenses reimbursed
