We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer with an active Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance to join a high-performing team delivering complex software solutions within a secure environment.
This is an exciting permanent opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects supporting critical national security initiatives. Based in Melbourne CBD, the role requires five days onsite and offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies in a collaborative, technically challenging environment.

The Opportunity

As a Software Engineer, you will be involved across the full software development lifecycle, designing, developing, testing and deploying secure, scalable and reliable software solutions.
Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to innovative software development, system integration and continuous improvement initiatives while applying best-practice engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Design, develop, test and deploy high-quality software solutions within a secure environment.
• 
  Contribute to Agile development, including sprint planning, story development and estimation.
• 
  Develop and maintain applications using modern software engineering principles and coding standards.
• 
  Support CI/CD pipelines, automation and SecDevOps practices.
• 
  Develop web-based user interfaces and enhance user experience.
• 
  Integrate applications and systems using APIs and integration technologies.
• 
  Develop unit and integration tests, troubleshoot defects and resolve complex technical issues.
• 
  Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure software solutions.
• 
  Maintain technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience

• 
  Proven experience in software engineering across the software development lifecycle.
• 
  Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and software engineering best practices.
• 
  Experience developing, testing and integrating software applications.
• 
  Knowledge of secure coding practices, automated testing and CI/CD processes.
• 
  Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• 
  Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams.

Highly regarded technical experience:

• 
  Programming and frameworks including Java, .NET, React or Angular.
• 
  REST APIs, JSON, XML and system integration.
• 
  Open-source technologies including Kafka, NiFi, Elasticsearch (ELK Stack) or Solr.
• 
  CI/CD and automation tools including GitLab, Git and Ansible.
• 
  Containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• 
  Linux and Windows environments.
• 
  Jira and Confluence.

Essential Requirements

• 
  Active Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV/PV) security clearance - mandatory.
• 
  Australian Citizenship.
• 
  Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in Melbourne CBD.
• 
  Willingness to work within a highly secure environment.
