Job summary

Interview Date: 15th December 2026

This is a great opportunity for someone with an aptitude for technology and who is organised, methodical, technically competent and enjoys setting up equipment and managing stock. This role is key to making sure that we are able to provide the right equipment, tested and setup in the right way, at the right time to our clients living with severe disabilities throughout Yorkshire and The Humber.

Based at Barnsley Hospital, our team has an excellent reputation for quality in providing regional NHS services for communication aids and environmental control across Yorkshire and the Humber - providing technology to individuals with severe disabilities. Search online for Barnsley Assistive Technology Team to see our website and find more information about what we do.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the technical skills required to setup and manage equipment including electronic or computer-based devices; who have experience of managing a stock of equipment; who are organised and rigorous; and who have knowledge of assistive technology equipment and the benefits of this equipment to our clients.

If you are highly motivated, hardworking, conscientious, a good team player, willing to learn and develop and passionate about the use of assistive technology and working with people with disabilities, then please look at our website and apply!

Main duties of the job

If successful, you will be independently working at our base in our dedicated office and workshop: ordering, processing incoming and outgoing equipment, testing, setting up and all the other tasks involved in stock managing the electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment we provide to our clients. You will help deliver a high-quality service to our clients. You will work within a client focussed and dedicated multi disciplinary team. You will be working in an immediate technical team of Technologists and Technicians and as part of a wider team of Allied Health Professionals and Healthcare Scientists.

You do not need to have experience of the equipment we provide to be successful in this application, as training will be provided on this specialised equipment, but you do need to have an interest in it and in supporting those with disabilities. In this role you will be supported to manage equipment across the full range of electronic assistive technology; for example, from mechanical mounting components to high spec computer-based devices eye gaze technology.
