Your Mission
As a QHSE Manager, you will ensure that our humanoid robots are safe, compliant and ready for the real world. Working hand-in-hand with our hardware and AI teams, you will lead the certification of our robots and build a safety mindset into the design and production process. You will own quality, health, safety and environment end-to-end: certification strategy, risk assessment, test campaigns, technical file and the team. Your work will decide when, and how safely, our robots can work alongside people. You start as a hands-on builder and grow into the leader of UMA’s safety and compliance organization.
Responsibilities
Define and drive the certification roadmap for our robots, from safety concept to signed declaration of conformity
Lead risk analysis for the robot across its full lifecycle and for the company (offices, workshop, test areas, including the DUERP) and keep it up to date
Own safety and compliance documentation: technical file, declarations of conformity, user instructions and safety procedures
Work closely with the hardware and AI teams on requirements and architecture, so every design is built to be certified
Lead verification and testing with external labs and assessors (functional safety, EMC, radio, batteries), and cover the wider compliance scope with the relevant teams (substances, cybersecurity)
Build the quality system for production (supplier quality, end-of-line testing, traceability, ISO 9001 readiness)
Own health and safety on our sites, in our workshop and at customer deployments: incident tracking, post-market surveillance and site risk assessments
Recruit and lead the QHSE team
What You Bring To The Table
7+ years in product safety, certification or QHSE for complex machinery (robotics, AMRs, automation, automotive, industrial equipment)
Proven track record taking a machine through the certification process, ideally as the manufacturer
Strong knowledge of EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 13849 and robot safety standards (EN ISO 10218); functional safety training is a strong plus
Experience working with test labs, notified bodies or independent assessors (TÜV, Bureau Veritas, SGS, DEKRA, etc.)
Builder mindset: you’ve set up processes, tools or teams from scratch
Technical enough to challenge engineers on safety architecture, components and test results
Fluent English, French is a plus
UMA is an inclusive workplace that values exceptional builders over perfect pedigrees. Whatever your background, identity, or journey, if you don't meet every criterion but believe you can have an outsized impact here, we strongly encourage you to apply.
