Digital Marketing, eCommerce & Systems Specialist
Auckland | Full-time | Hybrid
Digital Marketing | Shopify | eCommerce | CRM | Data & Systems
United Cellars is a premium wine retailer operating across New Zealand and Australia. We are looking for a hands-on Digital Marketing, eCommerce & Systems Specialist to join our Auckland team.
This is a broad, practical role for someone who enjoys working across digital marketing, eCommerce, customer data and the systems that support them.
You'll help execute and optimise our digital marketing activity while also taking day-to-day ownership of our eCommerce platform, reporting, CRM activity and digital system workflows.
We're not looking for a developer or a high-level marketing strategist. We're looking for a capable mid-level digital all-rounder who understands how marketing, eCommerce, data and technology work together—and is comfortable getting into the platforms themselves to make things happen.
What You'll Be Doing
Digital Marketing & Growth
You'll help execute and optimise digital activity across Australia and New Zealand, including:
Managing and optimising Google Ads and Meta advertising, including search, shopping, remarketing and paid social campaigns.
Supporting SEO and organic search growth, including keyword research, on-page optimisation, content and performance monitoring.
Monitoring campaign performance, ROAS, CPA, traffic, conversion and other key commercial metrics.
Identifying opportunities to improve acquisition, conversion and customer retention.
Supporting campaign planning, promotions and product launches across digital channels.
Working with our content, design, buying and sales teams to bring campaigns to market.
Keeping up with developments in digital search, including AI search, AEO and GEO.
eCommerce & Shopify
You'll take a hands-on role in the day-to-day performance of our eCommerce channels, including:
Managing and maintaining our Shopify stores.
Creating and updating products, collections, promotions, landing pages and merchandising.
Reviewing customer journeys and identifying opportunities to improve conversion.
Troubleshooting day-to-day website and eCommerce issues.
Coordinating website changes and technical requirements with internal or external development resources where required.
Supporting testing and continuous improvement across our online stores.
CRM, Email & Customer Journeys
Working primarily with Klaviyo, you'll:
Build and optimise email and SMS campaigns.
Maintain automated customer journeys and lifecycle flows.
Manage customer segmentation and targeting.
Monitor engagement, conversion and revenue performance.
Identify opportunities for retention, reactivation and repeat purchase.
Systems, Data & Integrations
You'll also help keep the systems behind our digital operation running effectively.
This will include:
Monitoring data flows between platforms including Shopify, NetSuite, Celigo and Klaviyo.
Identifying and troubleshooting integration or data issues and escalating technical problems where necessary.
Working with NetSuite saved searches, reports and dashboards.
Importing, exporting and manipulating data using CSV files and spreadsheets.
Monitoring data quality and helping maintain accurate product, customer and transaction information.
Supporting system documentation, processes and user guides.
Identifying opportunities to streamline repetitive processes through automation and AI tools.
You won't be expected to be a software developer, but you should be technically confident, curious and comfortable investigating why something isn't working.
Analytics & Reporting
You'll use data to understand what's working and where improvements can be made, including:
GA4, Google Tag Manager and advertising platform reporting.
eCommerce and customer behaviour reporting.
Campaign and channel performance analysis.
Building and maintaining regular digital and eCommerce reports.
Checking tracking and identifying data discrepancies.
Translating data into practical recommendations for the wider business.
About You
We're looking for someone with around 3–5+ years' relevant experience across digital marketing, eCommerce or a similar hands-on digital role.
Ideally, you'll bring:
Strong practical experience with Shopify or a comparable eCommerce platform.
Hands-on experience with Google Ads and Meta Ads.
Working knowledge of SEO and digital content optimisation.
Experience with GA4 and digital performance reporting.
Experience with email marketing/CRM platforms; Klaviyo is highly regarded.
Confidence working with spreadsheets, CSV files and large sets of data.
Hands-on experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system, with an understanding of how ERP, eCommerce, CRM and marketing platforms integrate and exchange data.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The ability to troubleshoot issues rather than simply pass them on.
Strong organisation and attention to detail.
The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving retail environment.
Clear communication skills and the confidence to work across marketing, sales, buying, operations and technology.
Experience with NetSuite, Celigo, SQL, GTM, Meta Pixel or system integrations would be a significant advantage, but we don't expect you to know every platform from day one.
Experience in wine, FMCG, retail or another product-based eCommerce business would also be highly regarded.
What This Role Isn't
This is not a pure marketing strategy role, and it isn't a software development position.
It's a hands-on role sitting between Marketing, eCommerce and Technology.
One day you might be reviewing a Google campaign or improving a Klaviyo flow; the next you could be updating a Shopify promotion, investigating why product data hasn't synced correctly, analysing conversion performance or preparing a report for management.
If you're someone who enjoys understanding both what drives customers to an online store and what needs to happen behind the scenes once they get there, you'll likely enjoy this role.
Why Join United Cellars?
You'll have the opportunity to work across both the New Zealand and Australian markets within an established premium wine business.
The role offers plenty of variety and the opportunity to develop across digital marketing, eCommerce, CRM, analytics and business systems rather than being restricted to one narrow channel.
You'll work alongside experienced people across marketing, wine buying, sales, design, operations and technology, with the autonomy to take ownership of your day-to-day responsibilities while still having support around you.
Full-time | Auckland | Hybrid working
Wine knowledge is an advantage, but curiosity and an interest in learning about the category are just as important.
