About the role

We're looking for a Business Development & Marketing Manager to strengthen Wotton Kearney's (WK) brand, drive business growth and build client relationships through BD and marketing initiatives. Based in Auckland, you'll work in our busy BDM team, reporting to our Head of Business Development & Marketing (NZ). In this hands-on management role, you'll own projects from concept to delivery within a small team. You'll be supported by our BD & Marketing Coordinator, whom you'll guide and mentor day to day; formal performance management sits with the Head of BDM. Working closely with partners, lawyers and our Australian BDM team, you'll provide trusted advice and practical support across the New Zealand business.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead client events from planning to follow-up, managing budgets, logistics and communications with the Coordinator and key stakeholders.

  • Lead the production of marketing materials, including presentations, event collateral, team guides and contact cards.

  • Manage digital channels and create accurate, engaging content for our website, social media, client portals and intranet, aligned with marketing objectives.

  • Manage firm communications, including external and event updates, the internal newsletter, social media and our external CLE programme.

  • Lead publications and thought leadership, including the NZ Insurance Market Trends report, from planning through production, launch and promotion.

  • Create digital content, including video and photography, across multiple channels.

  • Oversee email campaigns and client communications, using insights to improve results. Work with the Coordinator to maintain accurate CRM data.

  • Assess sponsorship opportunities, recommend activities and manage relationships in line with firm priorities and budgets.

  • Support the development and delivery of BD initiatives in product line and client plans.

  • Guide and mentor the BD & Marketing Coordinator, providing day-to-day advice and quality checks where needed.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in marketing, business, or a related field

  • 8+ years' experience in professional services or a B2B corporate environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams

  • Confidence, commercial awareness and the ability to work independently

  • Experience creating digital content, including video or multimedia, is strongly preferred

  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools (CRM, email marketing, website, and social media platforms)

  • Ability to create compelling content across a range of formats (newsletters, presentations, proposals, and marketing materials)

  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail

  • Experience in managing or mentoring people
