About the role
Ficino School is seeking an inspiring, skilled and warm Choir Director to lead our auditioned choir of approximately 35–40 students from Years 4–8. The choir rehearses once a week from 3.30–4.30pm and performs throughout the year at school and community events, including Kids Sing.
Key responsibilities
- Lead engaging rehearsals and prepare the choir for performances
- Maintain high artistic standards while creating a warm, joyful and supportive environment
- Inspire children to sing with confidence, expression and a genuine love of music
- Develop healthy vocal technique, musicianship, harmony, diction and ensemble skills
- Support children's wellbeing and foster a strong sense of teamwork and commitment
- Choose beautiful, culturally diverse and appropriately challenging repertoire
- Work collaboratively with our accompanist and Head of Music
About you
- Experience teaching singing or directing children's choirs
- Strong musicianship
- Understanding of healthy vocal development
