The Role

Looking for genuine technical variety without getting stuck in a single niche? At RS Eng, we handle a wide range of structural, civil, and geotechnical projects across Northland—from the top of the country in the Far North through to Whangārei, Mangawhai and beyond. We’re looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to take ownership of designs, run projects from concept to completion, and work directly with clients and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

·         Engineering Design: Deliver robust structural calculations, design concepts, and detailed drawing reviews across diverse residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

·         Project Delivery: Lead structural projects from initial client brief through to site sign-off.

·         Collaboration & Advice: Work closely with in-house civil/geotechnical teams, architects, contractors, and clients to solve complex site-specific challenges.

·         Quality & Standards: Ensure compliance with New Zealand Building Code standards and stay current with evolving industry practice.

About You

·         Qualifications: BE (Civil/Structural) or equivalent, with Chartered status (CPEng) or working towards it.

·         Experience: 2+ years of structural design experience, ideally within a NZ consultancy setting.

·         Technical Skills: Strong analytical ability across timber, steel, concrete, and foundation design.

·         Communication: Clear, practical communication skills—able to explain technical solutions to clients and contractors alike.

·         Eligibility: Current working rights for New Zealand (NZ Citizen, Resident, or valid Work Visa).
