  • 40 hours per week or
  • a flexible job share arrangement (15-20 hours per week)

About us | Mō Mātou

At Hurunui District Council, we care about our community and the people who call Hurunui home. Working here is about more than delivering services, it's about building connections, creating opportunities and making a positive difference. Join our team and be part of something meaningful.

About the role | Mō Te Tūranga

We're looking for an experienced Youth Worker to join our Community Team and help support the delivery of a range of youth programmes and initiatives across the Hurunui District.

This fixed-term role supports our Hurunui Youth Programme (HYP), delivering school lunchtime activities, career and transition opportunities and initiatives delivered through our SEED and MTFJ programmes.

Working alongside schools, whānau and community agencies, you'll help create positive opportunities for local rangatahi. As youth work is driven by the needs of young people, we're looking for someone who is adaptable, can respond to occasional changing circumstances, and enjoys working as part of a supportive team.

About you | Mōu

We are seeking someone who can quickly establish relationships and confidently work with young people from day one.

You will bring:

  • Previous experience working with, mentoring or supporting young people
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Experience facilitating activities, programmes, workshops or events
  • The ability to work confidently with schools, community organisations and whānau
  • Excellent organisation, initiative and self-management skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting rangatahi to succeed
  • A full driver's licence and confidence to drive around the district

Come and join a team that values true collaboration, supports your development and takes pride in making a real difference for the Hurunui community.
