Role Purpose
We're looking for a Finance Analyst - MI to own the data and management information the Finance function and wider business depend on. You'll take ownership of recurring data requests so that our Finance Manager - MI can focus on insight rather than fulfillment. You'll be responsible for ensuring that data reaching decision-makers is accurate, timely, and reconciled to source.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce recurring management information to agreed timetables
- Fulfill audit, funder, and regulatory data requests accurately and on time
- Handle business-as-usual data queries from across the organization
- Maintain documentation of data definitions and the logic behind recurring outputs
- Reconcile reported data to source systems and investigate discrepancies
- Apply and maintain controls over recurring data processes, including maker and checker arrangements
- Escalate data quality issues promptly rather than working around them
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring data production, particularly using AI
- Support the development of reporting infrastructure and automated pipelines
- Contribute to maintaining a single, agreed source of truth for key business metrics
Skills and Capabilities
- 10+ years of experience in a data or MI role
- Strong SQL and Python skills; confident working with large datasets
- Strong Excel skills – including lookup functions, pivot tables, and complex analysis
- Methodical approach with high standards of accuracy; able to create and maintain data quality processes
- Commercially focused; understands wider business impact alongside the data perspective
- Agile and adaptable to new structures, policy changes, and product-level changes
- Clear communicator; comfortable challenging and clarifying requests to ensure efficiency
- Effective time management; autonomous in managing routine work and prioritizing to deadlines
- Reliable and consistent under recurring deadlines
- Strong attention to detail with a high bar for accuracy and data integrity
- Proactive in flagging issues rather than delivering something known to be imperfect
- Collaborative across teams and time zones
- Desirable: experience with Power BI, Tableau, NetSuite, Pandas, or process improvement using AI; background in lending, financial services, or regulated environments
What Success Looks Like
- You understand the core data warehouse model and the definitions behind standard outputs. You produce standard recurring MI deliverables to timetable (initially under review) and document the data definitions and logic behind each output you take on.
- You own an agreed set of recurring MI and business-as-usual data queries end-to-end. You reconcile reported data to source systems as standard, with discrepancies investigated rather than noted. You've delivered the first two recurring processes automated end-to-end with maker and checker arrangements applied.
- You own audit and funder requests with limited review needed from the Finance Manager - MI. You show measurable reduction in manual effort across recurring data production. You identify and escalate data quality issues before they reach decision-makers as a matter of routine. You have the next set of automation targets agreed and underway.
