We are looking for a Staff Engineer, QA Automation to integrate a remote project in Portugal.
Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical field;
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Quality Engineering, including at least 3 years in a QA automation leadership role;
- Strong coding and automation background in Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, or Java;
- Deep technical expertise in test automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, REST-assured, or equivalent);
- Proven experience building and maintaining scalable automation frameworks across API, UI, regression, data, and integration layers;
- Hands-on experience leveraging AI tools (LLMs, Copilot, or custom AI frameworks) for test generation, defect prediction, self-healing test suites, and intelligent test prioritization;
- Strong background in integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments (AWS);
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities in an individual contributor capacity (no direct reports), driving quality strategy through technical influence and cross-team collaboration;
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, modern DevOps practices, and defining measurable QA KPIs (automation adoption, coverage, efficiency gains);
- Languages: Fluent in English (mandatory); knowledge of French or Spanish is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement the overarching QA automation and quality engineering strategy across the full software delivery lifecycle;
- Investigate and apply AI/ML tools, LLMs, and intelligent analytics to optimize test coverage, automate test generation, implement self-healing suites, and accelerate CI/CD test orchestration;
- Build, maintain, and continuously evolve scalable test automation frameworks for API, UI, data, and integration testing;
- Define measurable KPIs for automation adoption, test execution efficiency gains, and overall quality coverage;
- Lead by example as a hands-on individual contributor, designing frameworks, creating tests, and performing AI-assisted validation;
- Mentor and upskill distributed QA engineers on advanced automation methodologies, fostering alignment with product, data, and DevOps teams.
