About the role

We're looking for a seasoned Senior Technical Support Specialist to strengthen our technical operations and support installers across New Zealand.

As the senior escalation point, you'll resolve complex commissioning, diagnostic, performance and fault-finding issues across residential, rural, commercial and off-grid energy systems, helping installers deliver reliable, high-performing solutions. Ongoing training and support will be available for the successful candidate.

This role is focused on technical support rather than end-to-end system design. Installers will draw on your expertise for equipment selection advice, design reviews and technical guidance when projects become complex.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the senior technical authority for solar PV, battery storage, inverters, generators, and controls; diagnose and resolve complex electrical, commissioning, and communication faults.

  • Provide sharp, responsive technical support to electricians and installers nationwide, stepping in on-site or remotely when things get complicated.

  • Analyse monitoring data and system-performance metrics to identify faults, trends and opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability.

  • Answer installer questions regarding equipment selection and design viability, keeping projects safely on track.

  • Share your knowledge, mentor internal teams and installers, and help drive our technical quality and compliance standards forward.

About you

  • Relevant electrical qualification, ideally with current New Zealand electrical registration, or an equivalent engineering qualification supported by substantial industry experience.

  • Extensive hands-on technical experience in the solar PV and energy-storage sector, with a strong track record in complex system support.

  • Exceptional electrical fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities, with the ability to easily interpret schematics and complex technical documentation.

  • Hands-on experience commissioning and troubleshooting off-grid, hybrid, and grid-tied energy systems.

  • Mains Parallel endorsement (or ability to obtain promptly) and a full NZ driver's licence.

  • Experience with commercial-scale energy projects, automation, or energy-management systems (desirable).

  • Familiarity with modern remote monitoring, commissioning platforms, and diagnostic software (desirable).

  • Prior background in technical training, mentoring, or leadership roles (desirable).

Benefits

  • Attractive salary package matching your expertise.

  • A senior role where your technical voice shapes company standards and operational direction.

  • Ongoing training and exposure to premier, cutting-edge solar and storage technologies.

  • Work across off-grid, residential, rural and commercial energy projects, with varied technical challenges and system configurations.

  • Supportive, highly skilled team that values practical expertise and shares your passion for clean energy.
