WorkCover Queensland is entering an exciting new chapter, guided by a renewed strategic focus and strong executive leadership shaping our 2030 Strategy. We’re embarking on an enterprise-wide transformation to strengthen our impact and continue making a positive difference in people’s lives.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key technical role in shaping our new Salesforce CRM capability and influencing how technology enables better customer experiences.
You’ll provide technical leadership, design authority and engineering assurance, translating enterprise architecture into practical Salesforce solutions that are secure, scalable, resilient, supportable and built for the long term. This is a technical leadership role, rather than a people management position. You’ll lead through your technical expertise, judgement and influence, working closely with engineers, architects, security, privacy, risk, delivery and operational teams, as well as technology partners and vendors.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll:
- Lead the technical design and engineering direction for Salesforce, translating enterprise architecture into secure, scalable, supportable and buildable solutions.
- Act as a technical design authority for Salesforce, making and guiding technical decisions within agreed architectural guardrails and ensuring the appropriate use of Salesforce configuration, custom development and platform services.
- Lead the technical design of Salesforce integrations, working with relevant platforms Tech Leads to define API and event-driven patterns, authentication, data flows, error handling, resilience, observability and support arrangements.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and assurance through reviews of solution designs, code, configuration, integration, deployment pipelines and implementation artefacts, assuring the quality of solutions delivered internally and by vendors and escalating material design departures through the Architecture Design Authority where required.
- Define and assure non-functional requirements across security, privacy, accessibility, performance, scalability, availability, resilience, recoverability, observability, supportability, data integrity and records management.
- Shape and assess complex technical demand, including solution options, dependencies, estimates, sequencing, delivery risks and operational impacts to support informed prioritisation.
- Own the long-term technical health and sustainability of the Salesforce platform, including operational readiness, technical documentation, platform limits and capacity, technical debt, lifecycle management, major incident and problem support, and continuous improvement
- Provide senior technical leadership during major incidents, complex problems and failed changes, supporting diagnosis, service restoration, root-cause validation and remediation.
- Build Salesforce engineering capability by mentoring engineers and technical specialists, sharing knowledge and promoting consistent engineering practices across internal teams and delivery partners
About you
You’re an experienced Salesforce technical leader who can confidently work across architecture, solution design and engineering delivery.
You understand how Salesforce operates within a broader enterprise technology environment and can design solutions that integrate effectively with customer-facing, integration, data and core business platforms.
You’ll bring:
- 8+ years’ experience in senior technical roles, including experience leading the design and engineering standards of Salesforce solutions within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong Salesforce technical expertise across configuration, custom development, data, security and platform services, with the judgement to determine when to configure, extend or integrate the platform.
- Demonstrated experience designing highly integrated Salesforce solutions, including APIs, event-driven integration, identity and authentication, data flows, integration dependencies, error handling and operational support.
- Experience working collaboratively with architects and Technical Leads across an enterprise to define end-to-end solution designs, responsibilities, dependencies and technical boundaries.
- Experience translating architectural direction into detailed technical designs that are practical to build, operate and support.
- Experience establishing and governing Salesforce engineering practices, including development standards, code and configuration quality, source control, automated testing, DevOps, CI/CD, environment management and deployment practices.
- Strong technical assurance and decision-making capability, including evaluating solution options, non-functional requirements, dependencies, technical debt and risk, and clearly communicating trade-offs and recommendations.
- The ability to influence multidisciplinary teams, architects, Technical Leads and delivery partners, challenge technical decisions constructively and mentor engineers without relying on formal positional authority.
- Experience working within a regulated environment, with established security, privacy, risk and governance requirements.
- A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
