Essential Staff is looking for experienced and hands-on Carpenters to join our Christchurch team. This is an important role within our growing business, where you will play a key part in delivering quality workmanship across residential, commercial, and civil projects.

The Role

As an experienced Carpenter, you will deliver high-quality carpentry work across a range of residential, commercial, and civil projects throughout Canterbury

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes ownership of their work, works safely, and enjoys being part of a strong site team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Formwork

  • Standing frames

  • Subfloor and midfloor installation

  • Installation of doors and windows

  • Cladding

  • General carpentry tasks as required

  • Working collaboratively with site managers and other trades

  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site presentation

This role is busy and varied, offering consistent work across a strong project pipeline.

What You Will Bring

We are looking for someone who has:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) OR

  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar carpentry role

You will also be:

  • Detail-focused with strong problem-solving skills

  • Able to think on your feet

  • Committed to Health & Safety

  • Reliable, punctual, and professional

  • Confident working independently and within a team
