About the role
dataengine is looking for an experienced BI Consultant with strong Power BI expertise and the consulting skills to take clients from business requirements through to high-quality reporting and analytics solutions. You'll work directly with clients to understand their business challenges, define reporting requirements, design semantic models, develop enterprise-grade Power BI solutions, and help organisations get greater value from their data.
Key responsibilities
Lead client workshops and discovery sessions to understand business processes, KPIs and reporting requirements
Translate business needs into practical, scalable BI and analytics solutions
Design and develop Power BI dashboards, reports and scorecards
Build robust semantic models, datasets, dataflows and reusable reporting assets
Develop advanced DAX measures, calculations and business metrics
Use Power Query and SQL for data preparation, transformation and analysis
Create intuitive executive dashboards and operational reporting solutions
Implement row-level security (RLS), governance and deployment standards
Optimise Power BI solutions for performance, usability and maintainability
Provide recommendations and guidance to clients on reporting and analytics strategy
About you
4+ years' experience delivering BI, reporting or analytics solutions
3+ years' hands-on Power BI development experience
Proven experience delivering end-to-end BI solutions, from requirements gathering through to production
Advanced experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
Strong DAX skills
Experience with Power Query and SQL
Strong experience developing semantic models, datasets and dataflows
Experience designing executive dashboards, operational reporting and self-service analytics
Demonstrated consulting and stakeholder management experience
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
